Laurel walked quietly outside. She hadn't met anybody yet, and she was getting bored with staying inside alone. Most of the time she was very wild, but without friends that wasn't coming out. The coutyard seemed like a likely place to meet people, and it was a lot better than staying in her common room the whole day. She started singing the new song that she had written under her breath. "Free but yet so trapped," she started.

David walked into the courtyard and heard singing. He recognised the voice straight away. "Laurel? Where are you?" he asked, raising his voice as he did.

Laurel heard her name being called. She turned around and saw a boy named David. She smiled and walked over to him. "Hello," she said. "How did you know that it was me?" Her mind worked quickly as she tried to remember something. What it was escaped her at the moment.

"Yes, I was singing, but it was pretty quietly. You must have excellent hearing. She was very impressed by his hearing abilities if that was the case. She smiled at him and said, "So, what are you up to?" She pushed her hair behind her ear. She had recently cut it off very short.

Laurel nodded her head. "I got a bit tired of it being long. So, now I'm experimenting with short. I'm even thinking of making some green streaks in it." She was ver wild at times. "How are things going with you and Katie?" she asked interestedly.

"Quite alright. Say, I havent seen her for 7 hours and 23 minutes." David chuckled as he gave the correct timing. "And yes, green wil suit you and your house." David agreed with Laurel.

Laurel smiled at David's assessment of her hair. "You are an excellent boyfriend to know how long you haven't seen her," she said. Laurel smiled again as she said the words. David was a very nice guy, and he had excellent hearing. Seriously, what was I going to do? Laurel's memory was horrid, but hopefully it wasn't anything that important.

Laurel shook her head sadly. "I'm afraid that the single life is the one that I lead. There isn't anything interesting going on with me at all. I mean, I'm in a band, but that's about it." Her life was incredibly dull at the moment, but she craved excitement.

"Perhaps you will meet a guy this year and you can always come out with us. We are your friends." David said, concerned for her after hearing what she had said.

"I'm sure that I will," she said. "I'm so dreadfully impatient that it is just very hard to wait." Laurel knew that she'd find somebody, but at times she wished that they would hurry up and show themselves. It was nice to know that she had friends at least.

"True love will appear eventually and at the right time. Every thing just in his perfect timing." David said. He never rushed into things and had allowed things to run its course. He certainly hoped Laurel would.

Laurel nodded at his advice. "I know that you're right. I think that I'll be able to wait. Besides, if we hurry through life then what's the point of living?" She had often heard her brother say this, and she took it to heart. It was hard sometimes to wait, but if that was what was supposed to happen.....She smiled at David and said, "So, how do you like it here?"
